If you end up with a boring miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest, or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.”
― Frank Zappa
Artist, Collaborator, Musician, Performer, Writer, Poet and Father. Dan takes it all in his stride and offers a delicious smorgasbord of creative endeavours for your edification and delight.
It would be difficult to imagine Daniels life as boring or miserable as he reaches out to learn everything he can about, well, everything! Although a qualified theatre technician Daniels interest was always on the creative side which soon found an expression in the design, costuming, props, sets and animated objects of performance. That led him to undertake a Diploma in Fine Art with a major in sculpture and photography interpreted by Daniel as conceptual art and 4th dimensional photography. Because it was difficult to find galleries to exhibit Daniel opened a performance art café while continuing to write, work and perform. This inspired him to produce, promote and provide technical support for contemporary performance, young peoples theatre and circus groups as well as facilitating theatre as a process of community inclusion for people experiencing a disability or disadvantage.
Upon completing studies in small business management in 1994 Daniel was engaged as a freelance project, event and festival manager as well as providing concept development and creative services for projects. His interest in animation and film has produced numerous experimental films, a number of film clips for music groups and media projections for ceremonies while Daniel has also enthusiastically explored the concept of experiential environments as theatre. Daniel has conceived, written, produced and performed more than a few original works and collaborated with the community to create large scale pageant theatre. Amongst all of this he discovered that he had a natural ability and an enthusiasm for teaching and with the appropriate qualifications has taught art in the broadest of communities.
Dan has an Associate Degree in Creative Writing from Southern Cross University and an Associate Diploma in Screen-writing (feature film) from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School while is currently studying a degree in Creative Writing at Deakin University. He is keen to pursue a writing career.
